We seek a qualified H&S professional for an immediate start within one of our FMCG clients, initially a 3 month or 6 month FTC but with some possibility of a perm role moving forwards. Immeidate start must be flexible as client runs days and lates/night and from time to time you must be visible on the night and late shifts.

Duties summarised below full JD available upon application.

Ensure the consistent application of the safety management system including regular review and updating of policies and procedures in line with changes in operational activity, legislative requirements and best practice

•To work with managers and their teams to ensure that all areas and activities are regularly risk assessed and that appropriate controls are in place and agreed action plans are followed to minimise risk

•Develop and deliver training programmes for all line managers to include H&S law, Company policy and procedure, guidance on implementing policy and ensuring compliance. Ensure in house knowledge is kept up to date through refresher training on a regular basis. Ensure programme of specific training to employees in areas such as COSHH, FLT and manual handling for example.

•Oversee health, safety and environmental audit programmes to ensure compliance with relevant policies in all areas of the business

•Develop and report on HS &E KPIs, using the statistics and other factors to drive strategy, policy, training. Ensure KPIs are communicated and understood within the business and line management are accountable for performance in these areas

•Ensure all accidents & near misses are thoroughly investigated and all paperwork completed. Follow up investigations with any appropriate action, ensuring all actions are documented. Ensure all accidents are recorded appropriately including RIDDOR where necessary

Site Services

•With particular reference to construction / refurbishment projects, provide a Planning Supervision Service and advice / act upon CDM Regulations requirements

Fire

•Act as fire safety officer and manage the Company's fire safety policy and procedures and their practical implementation across the business including management of the physical fire system infrastructure, periodic evacuation drills and regular fire system inspection and tests

•Ensure Company has required level of fire marshals in place and appropriate training is delivered, including regular refresher training

•To ensure all fire incidents, near misses and false alarms of fire are swiftly investigated and learnings are taken

Site & Site Security

•Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place to maintain the security & safety of our people, premises and equipment

•Ensure that all security incidents are recorded and reported to appropriate third parties, that incidents are thoroughly investigated and that action is taken in response to incidents so that appropriate preventative measures can be put in place

•Manage and control the integrity of site access and CCTV control systems

Environmental Management

•Lead envionmental management activity through active communication and engagement with the team

•Manage the implementation of a formal waste management system to manage streaming of waste, reduce waste to landfill and effluent discharge

•Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement programmes to deliver these

•Managing waste management contractors

General:

•Key point of contact for HSE, Fire Safety Office, insurance etc advising Leadership Team on inspections undertaken, reports and advice given and improvement notices issued

•Ensure regular and effective communication on all health, safety and environmental matters (team brief, comms and management reporting)

•Ensure knowledge of changes to H&S law, regulations and best practice is kept up to date through regular and frequent research and reading of relevant publication and through attending seminars and training as required. Make recommendations to the senior management team on improvements required and direction of the H&S Strategy.

•To access professional support and guidance from other relevant organisations and external sources as necessary and to develop networks for sharing information

• Demonstrable experience of working in a health and safety management role in a food or pharma production or similar environment
