JOB TITLE: Additional Support Lead Advisor
LINE MANAGER: Head of Welfare and Skills
JOB PURPOSE: To have day to day responsibility for the provision of learning support for students, enabling them to be successful in their studies
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
To develop and deliver training and information related to academic learning support as required to staff at the College
To provide day to day guidance to the team of Welfare and Skills Mentors on academic learning support matters
To contribute to transition planning for prospective students with identified needs or risks
To contribute to the implementation of arrangements for the initial assessment of the learning skills of all new students
To contribute to the development of Risk Assessments and Care Plans for students with individual support needs
To contribute to the provision of information to staff on curriculum modifications and formal assessment of candidates for exam access arrangements
To contribute to the liaison and interview processes, particularly in relation to early identification of support and transition
To work with identified individual students and/or small groups in ensuring their learning is being supported
To liaise with colleagues leading learning at Entry Level and Level 1 to ensure support is in place for identified learners to allow them to progress successfully to the next level of learning
To liaise with LRC staff to ensure the availability of adapted and accessible materials for identified students; within the finite resources available
To provide support to the Head of Welfare of Skills in the strategy for supporting and monitoring the progress of students in the LAC group.
