Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding (CAH&ER) is a busy, progressive and dynamic service serving a city and a large rural county. CAH&ER work together to make a positive difference in the lives of our clients.

We have the following vacancies based in Hull (although we may consider requests to work from our Goole or Bridlington offices):

Universal Support Workers (Training provided in benefits advice – up to 4 FTE posts)                                            

Based in our Hull office (and will be required to work at outreaches across Hull and the East Riding).

37 hours (full time) or 18.5 hours (part time) per week – (These posts are funded to 31 March 2021 in the first instance but may be extended subject to funding)

Salary: £21,762 p.a. (rising to £23,097 p.a. upon completion of training and reaching agreed competencies)

Based within the Hull office the post holders will give advice and support to Universal Credit claimants in accordance with the new “Help to Claim” service model devised by national Citizens Advice.

During the current Coronavirus restrictions we are operating a limited face to face service. The post holder will be required to provide advice face to face with appropriate protective measures and also from home via telephone, email, webchat and video.  We will provide the support and equipment to enable this.

The post holder will have good interpersonal skills and demonstrable customer care skills.

You will have experience of using telephony and / or IT systems to deliver services across multiple channels including face to face, webchat and / or telephone.

This includes completing required monitoring for Citizens Advice against project KPIs and assisting with the establishing, maintaining and developing of local partnerships.

You will have the ability to work both independently with minimum supervision, and as part of a team and to be confident using a wide range of IT systems. 

The post holders should ideally have knowledge of the current law and policy in relation to benefits although training will be provided.

We are willing to consider splitting the full time hours to share the post between more than one worker where this meets the requirements of the service.
