Due to continued growth we are recruiting for an Area Assistant Farm Manager to join our agriculture team based in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
This role will be providing assistance and support to 3 turkey farms in the ST14 area.

Purpose of the role:

Your role as Assistant Farm Manager will be to support the Farm Managers in the day to day running of the farms, within company regulations and consistently operate to the highest standards of husbandry and management. Your main goals will be to optimise flock performance and welfare and providing a profitable and efficient operation. Maintaining best in class standards for bird welfare, bio-security, farm security and health and safety.

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Helping manage the farm on a day to day basis.
• Following the management systems and programmes laid down in the company code of practice to ensure records and production conditions are maintained on a daily basis.
• Providing a safe environment consistent with bird requirements at all stages.
• Assisting in the efficient housing of the birds ensuring the required check and adjustments are performed with respect to temperature, ventilation, drinkers, feeders and bedding.
• Recognising potential health and production problems and taking appropriate action.
• Ensuring all external audits, including 'farm assured' such as Red Tractor are within guidelines set down by the company.

What we are looking for:
• Previous experience with animal husbandry would be a benefit.
• NVQ/Diploma in Poultry Production Level 3 (to be completed with the company if not already attained)
• Good numeracy and literacy levels to complete paperwork accurately.
• Good organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Valid licence and own transport is essential to react to alarm calls when required.
