About The Role CIQHP

TRL's Vehicle Validation Team has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our industry leading team responsible for assessing the performance of state-of-the-art survey vehicles. We are looking for a person to take a lead role within the team and be responsible for delivering the work accurately to time and budget. They will be working with a small team of technicians in a multi-faceted role working in all areas of a vehicle validation programme: systems testing, technology assessment, data processing/analysis/interpretation, report writing and client interaction.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

The role involves ensuring a number of different operations are completed including:

  • Working with project and team managers to ensure all tasks are suitably resourced.
  • Organising and undertaking third party vehicle testing programmes. This may involve working away from the office at various UK test track facilities and on the road network.
  • Processing and analysing of the data collected by these survey vehicles using bespoke and standard software packages.
  • Reporting on the resulting analysis and assessing compliance against detailed performance specifications and communicating these to both internal and external clients.
  • Responsibility for ensuring deliverables are to time and budget
  • Supporting the operation of TRL's own survey vehicles and survey equipment
  • Ensuring Health & Safety and Environmental procedures are strictly followed.

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a practical experience in the management of highways and preferably in the field of surface condition monitoring. Particular requirements include:

  • Extensive experience or knowledge in at least one of the following areas: road condition surveys, Certification and/or Quality Assurance processes, highway (asset) management, highway standards, testing regimes.
  • A keen interest in Technology (e.g. Lasers, GPS, Cameras) and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Demonstrable experience using standard data analysis and reporting tools (including Microsoft Excel) for analysis and presentation of data.
  • Experience using standard data reporting tools (including Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint) for the presentation of data and findings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an interest in identifying and investigating anomalies in data sets.
  • The ability to write clear, concise, correctly punctuated and grammatically correct English to present issues and observations with data.
  • Good communication skills, as the role involves liaising with team members, clients and survey contractors.
  • A flexible approach to working patterns and a willingness to occasionally work in the field.
  • A full driving licence

Qualifications

A science, engineering or technology-based qualification/education or the ability to demonstrate an appropriate equivalent experience or capability.
