Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and is seeking to onboard an Assistant Management Accountant.

The successful candidate will be a confident people person who can fit into the Finance function seamlessly and adopt a hands-on approach. This role will suit a high calibre professional who is seeking a career challenge and can thrive in a high performing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the production of the month end P&L and Balance Sheet:

  • Preparation of month end P&L and balance sheet schedules
  • Preparation and posting of month end journals
  • Provide input into P&L and balance sheet variances
  • Work with local and outsourced Finance teams to improve the month end close processes
  • Assist in preparation of VAT and other statutory returns
  • Preparing and submitting National Office of Statistics returns
  • Assist in debtor management and reconciliation
  • Lead the accounting for a separate 8 site entity

Assist with internal and external Audit Queries:

  • Support the local finance manager with internal and external audit queries

Review and support deliverables of the outsourced finance team:

  • Provide support and guidance to the outsourced finance function where needed

Assist in process improvements, working closely with Group HO to ensure alignment:

  • Work closely with the Group Finance function to ensure alignment in financial processes.
  • Support the UK Head of Finance and wider finance team with other ad-hoc tasks as required

The candidate should have the following:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline to finance
  • Part Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or qualified by experience
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar finance role.
  • High proficiency in all Microsoft Office software also essential (Excel, Word).
  • Experience in using an ERP system preferable.
  • Experience in a retail or similar industry preferred
