Who we are
We are a privately owned, independent UK company based in London. We are a brand holder and an importer of a wide range of Japanese and European foods distributed to the health-food trade and major supermarkets in the UK as well as exported to over 50 countries. We work with specialist producers in Japan and Europe to develop authentic, vegan and free-from foods, certified organic whenever possible. The company’s operations including quality assurance are administered from the head office in London, Acton with the principal warehouse and distribution center located in Holland.
The Role:
You will be working within the QA/ Technical Team:
+ Ensuring safety, authenticity and quality of company branded products and their compliance with applicable food regulations and organic standards with the particular focus on our Japanese range
+ Undertaking necessary communication with our suppliers, reviewing and approving suppliers’ technical documentation (product specifications, HACCP plans, supplier questionnaires, certificates of analysis, suppliers’ third party certificates, etc.) to verify their compliance
+ Maintaining product database and ERP system and ensuring that our product specifications and other QA records are accurate and up-to-date
+ Assisting with external and internal requests for technical information and documentation such as customer specifications, questionnaires, new line forms, certificates of analysis etc.
+ Assisting with product queries and complaints and investigating them with the suppliers
+ Undertaking necessary QC checks, monitoring, reporting, investigating and closing the non-conformities
+ Working closely with Product Development team to ensure the compliance of the final product and the product label
+ Following procedures and maintaining records in line with the company QMS and HACCP plan
+ Maintaining relevant third party certifications
Candidate qualifications:
Essential requirements:
+ Fluent written & spoken English
+ Experience in the food industry, ideally in similar environment (brand holder/ importer/ distributor/ retailer) managing compliance of a wide range of products and suppliers
+ Working knowledge of EU / UK Food Regulations
+ Good understanding and training in HACCP principles
+ Good scientific background/ understanding of food science & technology
+ Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
+ High level of accuracy and attention to detail and proactive approach to problem solving
+ Quick learner and self-motivating team player, with good communication skills
Additional desirable requirements:
+ Fluent written & spoken Japanese highly desirable
+ Familiarity with traditional Japanese products and their manufacturing methods
+ Working knowledge of GFSI certification requirements, particularly BRC Agents & Brokers standard
+ Knowledge of organic certification standards
+ Familiarity with database and ERP systems
+ Personal knowledge of Clearspring product range
