Salary: £100,000 - £130,000 per year, depending on experience
We are a specialist investment manager that focuses solely on long-term infrastructure investing. With offices in Sydney and London, it is a globally-oriented firm that brings together a team with deep infrastructure experience, covering both listed and unlisted markets, valuation, asset management and asset operations.
We are looking to hire someone with extensive experience in global listed infrastructure investing to join our team in London as a Senior Trader.
The Senior Trader will be primarily responsible for the following activities:
i. leading the trade execution function within the Firm including use of the EMS and OMS;
ii. presentation of the Firm’s execution approach to existing/potential clients and consultants;
iii. active participation to ensure the Firm maintains a best in class operating model with respect to trade execution;
iv. management of a Trade Support person (when recruited);
v. implementation and execution of equity, FX spot and FX forward market orders
vi. management and ongoing monitoring of the UCITS look through hedging;
vii. ensuring all regulatory requirements are met (eg. best execution/MiFID2), that trading is conducted in accordance with all Firm policies and that the Firm has a culture of compliance adherence;
viii. analysis of current market conditions;
ix. ownership of the Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) process;
x. maintenance of close relationships with other internal traders, particularly those based overseas, including supervision, control and the undertaking of daily hand-over procedures;
xi. maintenance of close relationships with every member of the Firm’s global investment team;
xii. proactively contributing towards the investment decision making process through Investment Committee attendance and input;
xiii. leading the Trade Review and Counterparty Committee (TRCC);
xiv. building and maintaining strong relationships with executing brokers; and
xv. ownership of all operational trading workflows including being responsible for trade booking errors, break reporting and other operational type activities to ensure smooth settlement of all trades.
Required skills, qualifications and experience include:
i. must have a strong knowledge of global equity and FX markets;
ii. must have 10 years’ trading experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in a global listed infrastructure focused role;
iii. must be degree qualified in a relevant business stream such as business, finance or economics;
iv. must be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of the global listed infrastructure investment universe and related liquidity flows;
v. must have a proven ability to trade both electronically and via high-touch methods (such as block trades);
vi. must have experience using leading market data systems, Execution Management Systems (EMS) and Order Management Systems (OMS);
vii. must have a good understanding of risk management, compliance and regulatory obligations;
viii. must have excellent communication skills, so as to be able to contribute positively at Investment Committee meetings and similar and to be able to present effectively to clients and consultants;
ix. must be able to carry out and take ownership of the TCA process effectively;
x. must work well as part of a team and, ideally, will have experience managing more junior team members;
xi. must have a strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail; and
xii. must be able to work effectively under pressure.
