As an EC&I Craftsperson on site at Galloway Hydro Scheme, you’d be responsible maintaining and inspecting the ECI systems that form part of the first large-scale hydro-electric schemes to be built in the UK with the sole aim of supplying power to the public. Adding to the renewable benefits of hydro-electric schemes, the station can generate quickly to operate to demand spikes in the energy supply.

As a Craftsperson you’ll spend your days doing instrument calibrations, fault finding, upgrading instrument systems, doing modifications to PLC and Scada systems, helping to manage compliance of PUWER and Electricity at Work regulations, acting as competent person, supervising contractors and support during planned outages.

With support and training you will become an expert in the plant, and in our health and safety procedures to assist and often supervise contractors with their work, ensuring safety, quality and environmental standards are maintained.

The role is Monday to Friday, but you may also be part of a standby rota and involved in callouts from time to time. You’ll receive training, both on the job, and through formal training courses to help you develop.

You’ll need past experience in operating and maintaining ECI systems and and have some knowledge IEE regulations, electrical, instrument & mechanical drawings, as well as knowledge of control & instrumentation PLC Systems. You’ll have a ONC/HNC or equivalent in a technical discipline ideally gained via an apprenticeship, and full, valid UK drivers’ licence.
