Geotechnical Site Manager
Job Title: Site Manager, Heathrow Expansion Project, Phase 1
Reports to: Project Manager
Job Scope: As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day management of the Heathrow Expansion Site Characterisation Project. This will include co-ordinating all site personal, sub-contractors and equipment to accomplish work set out by the design team. As Site Manager, you will maintain effective communication with Package Managers and the HSSE Advisor to maintain and develop the HSSEQ culture on site. You will also ensure that the site is working in accordance with the CPP and and environmental constraints, and are responsible for anything not directly dealt with by the Project Manager.
Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:
* The day-to-day management of field activities including planning / optimisation/ adjustment of sequence of operations and synchronisation with Client and/ or third-party operations;
* Coordination of sub-contractors on site and delegation of day-to-day coordination of sub-contractors to Package Managers, Site Engineer or appropriate delegate where practicable;
* Supervision of client (and sub-contractor) equipment and personnel;
* Coordination and/or checking of supporting activities, supplies, permits and/or access;
* Supporting Package Managers in establishing and maintaining an HSSEQ culture across the site and facilitating the provision of sufficient resources to allow for this;
* Familiarising themselves with the requirements of the CPP and site environmental constraints;
* Ensuring avoidance of any services identified by enquiries conducted by the Employer and the Contractor by working in strict accordance with the Permit to Dig Procedure.
* Responsibility for the day-to-day aspects of health, safety and protection of the environment within the compound and those areas not under direct control of a Package Manager;
* Assist the Project Manager in ensuring that those under their control are competent and understand their role in achieving a safe working environment;
* Ensuring proper arrangements for the use, storage and disposal of hazardous substances;
* Regular liaison with the HSSE Advisor and HSSE Coordinator to contribute to a high level of safety on all sites.
* Ensuring accidents and dangerous occurrences and near misses are reported in accordance with Company and legal requirements.
Experience and Qualifications:
Role Site Manager
Years of relevant industry experience Ideally >10 (Nothing less than 5)
Education BSc or MSc in earth science or geotechnical engineering
CSCS Yes
Minimal Management Training SMSTS
Manual Handling Yes
