Full Time, Permanent 

Shift based role – 2 days / 2 nights / 8 off

 

Our client have an opportunity for an Assistant Plant Technician to carry out the safe and efficient loading / receipt of bulk chemicals, dealing with hazardous chemicals and  ensuring that the correct material and quantity are loaded to the tankers and the documentation is accurately recorded. Attention to detail is a prerequisite, as you will be responsible for the dispatch of a variety of sulphur chemicals and able to adapt to sudden changes in the customer’s requirements. With a good understanding of SHE, you will have specific responsibilities with the shutdown / start up phase of the main sulphuric acid complex and during any emergency response situation. You will have detailed knowledge of both the PS3 and Dilutes plants and working knowledge of the SO2 plant will be able to provide general operating assistance when necessary. You will ensure that the DMS pressure pot change processes are completed in full PPE and RPE, as DMS is extremely toxic. You will be expected to monitor stock tank levels and maintain temperatures of certain products and ensure that the loading section of the SAC shift log is kept up to date.

With a good awareness of health and safety in the workplace, the successful candidate will ideally have bulk loading experience in a chemical or manufacturing environment, although full training will be provided. You will have a mechanical aptitude and will be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, as accuracy is a critical part of the role. Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you are prepared to wear the correct breathing apparatus and PPE equipment. You will be accustomed to managing your own workload and be adaptable to sudden changes, especially during busy periods.
