Join our first ever Management Training Scheme at Wellcome Sanger Institute. Our two-year programme will help you fulfil your ambition for professional progression and future leadership roles. By joining our training scheme, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our vast ambitions for world-leading genomics research. You will gain an invaluable combination of hands-on experience and exceptional networking opportunities to accelerate your career development.
You don't need to be a Scientist to contribute to science. This scheme is perfect for those who want to pursue a management career while working for an employer who focuses on improving human health. You will work within four different key areas of our Institute to help best develop your skills and understanding:
Our Cellular Genetics Programme investigates human disease in the fields of infection, immunity and metabolism by focussing on cell types.
Scientific Operations teams are responsible for producing research data content through the Institute that our faculty will use for their research.
The Grants office works to broaden Sanger Institute's portfolio of third-party funding while ensuring we are compliant with terms and conditions.
Procurement work collaboratively with teams across the campus to oversee the Institute's procure-to-pay process.
What we offer
Not only is there vast amounts of training on offer, we go much further with dedicated training tailored to your scheme four times a year. The four bespoke training courses per year will include themes such as:

- Time management
In addition to the bespoke courses, you will have access to a wide variety of campus-run courses throughout the year.
You will be well looked after as we run a mentoring scheme which you will have access to.

Succession is built into the core of the training scheme. Our ambition is to select people with great potential and a passion for what we do, provide them with training and finally offer a role they are interested in. You will have regular conversations about your progress and ambitions with your managers and the Management Training Scheme Manager (Early Careers Manager), who will provide guidance.
