Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in Essex in the search for a Principal Planner to join their Development Management team in the Town Planning Department on a initial 6 month contract.

My client is looking for a planning specialist who is confident in providing professional advice for the Council, creating and applying best practice and delivering successful planning outcomes.

Responsibilities will include resolving highly complex strategic planning projects, planning applications, development consent orders, as well as the supervision of planning and other staff in project teams.

Experience within a similar position is necessary. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years' worth of recent experience in dealing with major residential (100+ dwellings) and commercial developments within a Local Planning Authority, with a proven capability of handling a large case load of complex planning applications with minimal supervision. It would be beneficial to hold a Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration or a related discipline, and have the eligibility for membership of RTPI.

The council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and are offering flexible working hours.

Carrington West Pay Rate - GBP45 per/hour (DOE)
