Our client is a leading centre for hydrography, providing marine geospatial data to inform maritime decisions. They work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners to support maritime navigation, safety, security and marine development around the UK and worldwide.

They are looking for a User Researcher on a temporary basis, until approximately July 2020, to start asap following a clearance process.

As an important aspect of this role involves regular spoken interaction with members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential to be successful for the post.

Job Description

This is an exciting and great opportunity to join their Research, Innovation and Integration team, to deliver insight by conducting ethical and quality-based User Research to assist decision making, whether that be to support development of new products and services or to make smaller but impactful changes to our products and services

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be comfortable in a range of scenarios. You will decide on the best methods, processes and techniques to be employed in conducting User Research.

You will be responsible for identifying and recruiting appropriate representation from the customer base to conduct user research and decide on the best way to communicate the results and provide your recommendations based on your research to support decision making by others.

Technical Skills

Working skill level of the following:

Research skills - Knowledge of user centred design techniques. Understands when to use those methods and how to apply them correctly. Knows how to involve their team in research activities
User-centred and agile - Understands and experience of a range of user centred practices. Can work with colleagues to plan and do continuous user research in a multidisciplinary team.
Strategic insight - Understands what problem the team is trying to solve. Can align user research activities to inform decision making and action.
Analysis and Synthesis - Knowledge of how to apply basic techniques for analysis of research data and synthesis of findings. Knowledge of how to involve the team in analysis and synthesis.
