Our client is a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy to looking to appoint a Geo-environmental/Geotechnical consultant who can join their growing environmental team.
The role will be working principally on contaminated land and/or geotechnical assessments, site investigations with assistance working on other environmental projects. This work will be for various types of projects including residential, commercial and mixed-use development. There will also be an expectation to learn to take on some commercial and business development activities as well as contributing to the development of their growing team.
Responsibilities:
The level of responsibility and expectations technically, commercially and personally will advance according to the level of consulting grade. A general summary is given for Consultant level.
* Collaborate and support colleagues and team members on projects, tasks and site work.
* Contribute to the technical delivery of projects, providing support and guidance to other teams and disciplines.
* Manage and complete tasks, draft reports etc. within required deadlines and budget.
* Phase 1 Desk Studies - site walkovers, historical and environmental searches, development of conceptual model, qualitative risk assessment and assistance with the preparation of reports and supporting information (e.g. figures, historical maps, regulatory data base etc).
* Phase 2 Site Investigations - manage the preparation of a site investigation, assisting during investigations including logging and soil sampling, environmental monitoring including gas monitoring and recovery of groundwater and surface water samples, interpretation of chemical analysis, qualitative and quantitative risks assessments, refining conceptual models and preparation of reports and supporting information (e.g. logs, figures etc).
* Phase 3 Remediation - preparation of Remediation Method Statements, supervision of hotspot removal and other remedial works, validation sampling, environmental monitoring and preparation of Verification Reports.
* Assistance with Geotechnical Investigations including preparation of the works, supervision during investigations including logging and soil sampling, in-situ tests using hand held equipment and preparation of reports.
* Take a proactive approach to managing client relationships, clarifying expectations, success criteria and outcome measures in order to meet their requirements and deliver successful projects.
Essential Requirements:
* The successful candidate will need to have gained basic technical skills as part of a university degree in a relevant scientific or engineering based subject and build upon any skills the candidate has already gained as a Graduate Consultant.
* Full UK driving license
* Report writing skills
* Drive and energy to undertake field work and work outside in weathers
* Prepared to work in a variety of different environments with a variety of people
* A flexible and dynamic approach for working in a growing team
