Learning Support Assistants required in Lewisham

We are looking for two support assistants/teaching assistants who have experience or are looking to work with pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) for an immediate start. Both of these roles are ongoing long term contracts.

You will be based in Lewisham in an alternative provision which caters for pupils from 5-16 with Social Emotional and Mental Health - SEMH


* Be able to recognise that students all have different styles of learning e.g. visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinaesthetic.

* To create an positive environment for development

* Have the ability to build a strong rapport with staff and students

* Enable learners to access the curriculum

* Be an active part in setting a positive learning environment

* Be able to work both in the classroom and outside the classroom

Key skills and experience needed:

* Be flexible and creative within your visions and approach to education

* A good understanding of working with students with SEMH/Autism and challenging behaviour

* The ability to build relationships with staff and students

* Be confident and the ability to see through challenging behaviour

* Unlock the potential of the students at the school

* Teach all students new personal, social and practical skills that will help them in later life including providing opportunities for work experience and involvement in accredited learning where possible.

* Get actively involved with outdoor pursuits so experience of Youth Work, Football Coaching, Personal Training or people with a Sports related degree's who are looking to get into teaching will be looked upon favourable.
