We are working with a secondary school in Bradford to help them recruit for a permanent premises manager, this is a permanent post to start immediately however the school are happy to wait for people to work their notice if they are currently employed. The school are an 11-16 Church of England secondary academy which is part of multi-academy trust based in Bradford.

The school are looking for someone who ideally has experience of working in the same role in a school or similar setting. If the person has experience of working with premises but not in a school environment, their application will be considered

The position is a full time position (all year round) and the hours will be 11 am till 7 pm 5 days a week however there is some flexibility with hours. As this is a permanent full time post, you will only be allowed to take holiday during non school time.
You may be requested to be on call for emergencies and call outs.

The salary for this position is GBP230 per annum.

PRIME OBJECTIVE OF THE POST
Responsible for the cleanliness, safety and security of the building and grounds, heating, lighting, general maintenance around the academy and ensuring Health & Safety compliance on site.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The promotion and maintenance of a clean, tidy, safe and hygienic environment which gives a positive image of the academy to children, staff, parents and visitors.
The following of the Academy's policies and procedures.
Cleaning and care of interior surfaces and cleaning and care of exterior hard surface areas of all academy buildings.
The maintenance of the security of premises, including the locking and unlocking of the premises, and bringing any deficiencies to the attention of the Business Manager.
Responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Act for users of the building.
Supervision of the Premises Assistant, Cleaning Team Supervisor and all Cleaning staff.
The maintenance of buildings and academy fixtures and fittings, including basic repairs etc.
Administration connected with the performance of the duties of the post.
Porterage and any other tasks as appropriate.
By supporting, upholding and contributing to the development of the Academy's equal rights policies and practices in respect of both employment issues and the delivery of services to the community.
May from time to time be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility defined in this job description.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Premises Manager has responsibility for the Premises Assistant, Cleaning Supervisor and Cleaning staff, ensuring that cleaning is performed in an efficient manner and to the standards set by the Authority, training and instructing cleaning staff, as required.

Ensure that Health & Safety related regulations are adhered to.

SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE:
Will work under the supervision of the Business Manager.

The postholder has responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act for the safety of all users and visitors to the academy. (This responsibility is shared during normal academy hours with the Business Manager, but is the postholder's sole responsibility whilst on site outside of these hours in the absence of the Business Manager or other senior members of the academy staff.)

RANGE OF DECISION TAKING:
Expected to work generally under own initiative but will work to the priorities set in the Academy Improvement Plan.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ASSETS, MATERIALS ETC:
Shared responsibility with the Business Manager and Premises Assistant for the security of buildings, equipment, furniture etc. on the site.
Shared responsibility with the Premises Assistant for the security, safe and correct usage of cleaning equipment and materials.

RANGE OF DUTIES
The Premises Manager's work enables the children and staff of the academy to work and learn in a safe, clean, tidy and hygienic environment through:

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Will be required to be a Key holder for emergency call-outs.
Evening/weekend duties for lettings will be a feature of the job.
Will be required to work late evenings for Academy events.

Qualifications
*GCSE Maths and English A* - C, or proven ability with communication and numeracy skills
*IOSH Managing Safely
*COSHH
