We are offering an exciting opportunity for you to be trained in a new psychological approach (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to transform the lives of young people leaving care, helping them to determine and meet their own goals and aspirations.

We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the South West, working with over 2,500 young people. We have strong local partnerships and adhere to the best practice in the sector.  We build trusting relationships between our young people and our colleagues and this is at the core of our work.

Reboot West is a successful Department of Education funded project to work with 200 care leavers across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North-East Somerset and North Somerset for four years to support them into Education Employment and Training. We are one year into the contract and the project is expanding due to the positive outcomes it is achieving. 

What we are looking for in you:

  • Your enthusiasm and a track record in supporting young people with a range of needs and challenges enables you to deliver tangible, measurable outcomes for young people, particularly getting them into employment and education. 
  • You engage young people with confidence and passion enabling you to build meaningful relationships.
  • You are curious about and motivated to use psychological relationship-based approaches in your work.

What you will be doing:

  • Your creative approach will enable you to work successfully with a case load of 28 care leavers over 1 year on a 1:1 and group basis.
  • Working flexibility and innovatively, you will help to improve their wellbeing and ultimately enable them to access employment and/or training.
  • Working closely with local authority care leaver teams, you will be embedded in this team and work with them to ensure a joined-up offer.
  • Being well organised and efficient and you will effectively record, and evidence outcomes achieved by young people.

You will be in the Reboot West team of 9 coaches and 1 project support worker, working predominantly in Bristol with some work in neighbouring local authority area(s).  Your line manager will be our Reboot West Manager.

Contract details: 

  • Hours per week: 37.5 (full-time)
  • Contract type: fixed term (Jan 2020 - Dec 2020)
  • Pay: £23,836 to £25,295 per year (NJC Scale 17-20), starting at the bottom of the scale
