JOB TITLE: Marine Operations Instructor / Assessor with responsibility for:

  • Offshore Stability & Ballast Control for Semi-Submersibles : Stability 2 (course duration 4 days)
  • Ballast Control Simulator : Stability 3 (course duration 3 days)
  • Ballast Control Simulator Refresher : Stability 4 (course duration 2 days)
  • Marine Operations of Self-Elevating Platforms : Jack-Up Rigs (course duration 3 days)
  • FPSO Marine Operations Awareness (course duration 2 days)

Key Objective:

The role of the Marine Operations Instructor / Assessor is to deliver, assess and, where necessary, offer support to delegates undertaking Marine Operations courses in accordance with the Awarding Body guidelines in the following subjects:

  • Offshore Stability & Ballast Control for Semi-Submersibles : Stability 2 (course duration 4 days)
  • Ballast Control Simulator : Stability 3 (course duration 3 days)
  • Ballast Control Simulator Refresher : Stability 4 (course duration 2 days)
  • Marine Operations of Self-Elevating Platforms : Jack-Up Rigs (course duration 3 days)
  • FPSO Marine Operations Awareness (course duration 2 days)

General:

  • Be a proactive member of the Marine Operations Team, providing effective communication and support to Head of Marine Operations, Operations Manager and all other members of the Senior Management Team.
  • To comply with the framework provided by Policies adopted by the Regional Board and to ensure compliance with all procedures in the clients Staff Handbook.
  • To comply with the clients policies.

Main Tasks:

Delivery of our clients range of short commercial courses to Awarding Body Standards of our clients Marine Operations training provision in the following subjects:

  • Offshore Stability & Ballast Control for Semi-Submersibles : Stability 2 (course duration 4 days)
  • Ballast Control Simulator : Stability 3 (course duration 3 days)
  • Ballast Control Simulator Refresher : Stability 4 (course duration 2 days)
  • Marine Operations of Self-Elevating Platforms : Jack-Up Rigs (course duration 3 days)
  • FPSO Marine Operations Awareness (course duration 2 days)

Assist with the 5 year Awarding Body audit

In conjunction with Head of Marine Operations, maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures

Provide feedback and support to delegates on a one-to-one or group basis

Review and update when required course content and delivery methods

Assist in assessing, changing and offering suggestions for the improvement of our clients Marine Operations training provision

Be responsible for ensuring that all delegates under his/her supervision comply with our clients and NESCol's Health & Safety Procedure.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

Working knowledge understanding and operational experience in the following areas:

  • Semi-Submersible Mobile Offshore Units (MOU's)
  • Ballast Control operations on MOU's
  • Cargo operations
  • Application of Planned Maintenance Systems
  • Understanding of Health & Safety operations and documentation
  • Working knowledge and operational experience on Self-Elevating Platforms (Jack-Up Rigs 3 or 4 leg)
  • Working knowledge and operational experience on FPSO/FSU

Communication skills

Planning and organisational skills

Numeracy, literacy and computing skills

Effective communication both orally and in writing

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must be able to demonstrate possession of at least two of the following:

• Current Marine License (Master, Mate, Ballast Control Operator, Barge Supervisor, or Offshore Installation Manager)

• Relevant maritime experience and / or MODU experience

• Relevant teaching / presentation experience

Specific requirements and expectations of these elements are detailed below:

  • Marine License
  • To satisfy this requirement candidates must have offshore experience and hold the appropriate Mariner credentials. Candidates should ideally hold a qualification as, Master, Mate, OIM, Barge Supervisor, or Ballast Control Operator. Preferably, comprehensive Stability Instructors should hold a comprehensive Stability Certificate.
  • Relevant maritime experience and / or MODU experience
  • To satisfy this requirement, candidates must have offshore experience and should have experience in the conduct of Ballast / Stability operations or have other specialised operational experience.
