My client are a cutting edge biotechnology company based in London, partnering leading pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and research organisations. They are going through a substantial period of growth and are looking to hire an experienced Molecular Biologist who will play an important laboratory based role.

Working within a team, the Molecular Biologist will produce DNA starting templates for use in the manufacture of DNA products as well as conducting product release tests, working within their brand new, state of the art manufacturing and Quality Control facility.

This position of Molecular Biologist will be highly collaborative, working with both the DNA Manufacturing and Research teams to provide DNA template materials and Quality Control support. In addition, the Molecular Biologist will be expected to interact with outside suppliers and partners to the business.The role requires hands-on laboratory work undertaking a wide range of molecular cloning techniques including: Subcloning and site-directed mutagenesis, Gibson and In-Fusion cloning strategies, DNA extraction methods, restriction digests, gel electrophoresis, ligation, transformations, primer design and sequencing. You will be given considerable independence in designing potentially difficult DNA constructs, and thus will make a significant contribution to projects.To be considered for the Molecular Biologist role you will need the following skills and experience;

  • Proven working experience in recombinant cloning, supported with diverse molecular biology skills, with a flexible technical approach to genetic manipulation, from either an academic or industrial setting.
  • You should be well-versed in PCR, gel electrophoresis apparatus for DNA and protein analysis, with an understanding of computer programs for sequence analysis
  • A Degree (BSc) or Masters (MSc) qualification in Molecular Biology / Biochemistry or a related Biological discipline (or relevant, equivalent working experience)
  • Experience of working in a controlled scientific environment, lead by SOPs and quality systems, knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) laboratories would also be an advantage.
