Scotgold are looking for a U/G Mining Operative - Shot-Firer.

Job Purpose: To charge blast-holes with explosives and fire safely, efficiently and effectively to ensure productivity. Minimise working costs through an appreciation of good operating practice.

Scope of Responsibilities:

* Assist the Shift Supervisor in marking off the drill pattern

* Ensure blast-holes have been drilled accurately according to the relevant design

* Prepare the blast-holes for charging

* Charge blast-holes (development and/or stoping) according to instructions (written and/or oral) and to Company safety and operational standards

* Time the blast-hole charges such that blast over-break, over-size and fly rock are minimised

* Whilst carrying out charging operations, identify any unexpected operating problems that could require higher level technical support

* Prepare daily reports of charging and blasting activities and other paperwork in a timely and accurate manner

* Manage and store explosives in accordance with site procedures and legislative requirements

* Carry out other duties for which training has been provided and certification issued

* Carry out any other duties for which no special training or certification is needed

Key Responsibilities / Duties: To be aware of and adhere to health and safety guidance relating to all aspects of work and the environment and to work to the highest safety standards.

Work Environment / Physical Demands: Shot-Firers must be physically fit and have the ability to personally handle, lift and/or carry heavy tools or supplies. Work will be carried out on a rotational shift basis.

Person Profile: Good communicator and able to work in a team environment and positively contribute to performance.

Skills: Possess a valid, clean driver's license.

Education and Experience: Minimum 2 years experience as Shot-Firer. Formal qualification in maths/numerically literate. Good written skills.

Competency: MPQC Level 3 Diploma for Shot-Firing for Mining Operations (QCF)
