Lead Enterprise Data Architect
This is an exciting opportunity to join HMRC's Enterprise Architecture team where you will work across one of the biggest IT estates in Europe. You will be supporting a large-scale radical transformation that will have profound impact on both customers and HMRC staff. The team will be accountable for offering data architecture design consultancy to solution architects across HMRC.
We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to work within HMRC's Data Domain at a time of significant change and transformation. This position will play a key role from a data architecture point of view in creating and improving enterprise architecture directions and roadmaps. This will drive the adoption of modern technology, whist pushing HMRC's hugely complex IT estate towards a smaller set of strategic systems.
Job description
We are looking for someone with Data Architecture design and development experience as well as a good understanding of data standards and patterns. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining our data architecture strategy and roadmaps, aligning them with HMRC Enterprise logical data model, business strategies and capability requirements. The Lead Enterprise Data Architect will be involved in proof of concept exercises for new technologies, reference architecture patterns and business benefits.
As leader of the Enterprise Data Architecture team you will engage at a strategic level and set the direction for technical and business change. You will ensure that HMRC develops and maintains a strong Architecture capability.
Responsibilities
Essential Criteria
You will need to have experience in:
A broad IT and Enterprise Architecture background with experience in Data Architecture mainly working on large scale solution deployments.
Focused approach to Data Architecture on strategic alignment of solution design and architecture to meet business growth and direction.
Experience of providing internal consultancy on potential uses and appropriateness of data architecture and driving benefits from solutions.
Broad understanding of large scale application development methodologies, with specific specialism in one or more of the following areas:Enterprise Data Catalogue, Enterprise Conceptual Data Model, Enterprise Logical Data Model, Application Logical Data Model, Application Physical Data Model
-> Data Management including Master and Meta data Management
-> Process to data and Data to application mapping
-> Data Modelling tools and methodologies
-> SQL and NoSQL environments and Data Virtualisation technologies
-> Cloud based data platforms - PaaS, Security Controls, Management Processes and Tools, and experience with cloud environments and public cloud providers - Microsoft, Salesforce, Pega, SAP, AWS and/or Microsoft.
-> Document and Records Management
Experience in leading teams, including coaching and mentoring as well as in line management
Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships with partners at a senior level in order to achieve successful outcomes for the business.
Capability to articulate technical solutions to technical and non-technical people.
Able to work effectively in pressurised situations and can be relied upon to deliver, irrespective of circumstances.Desirable Experience
Either have or work to achieve professional IT qualifications such as TOGAF or CITP within the first 12 months of employment.
Experience of working in an agile environment and agile methodologies such as DevOps, TDD, Scrum, Kanban.The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for and willing to undergo SC clearance following appointment in to the post.
