This is a unique opportunity to take responsibility for owning, growing and maintaining and enhancing business architecture within HMRC. This would involve leading a team of Business Architects in offering active advice and support to solution architects working across projects and programmes. You will set long-term directions for business architecture which will define our current state, end state architecture, and transitional roadmaps. You will work with multiple HMRC business areas to understand and shape their requirements, and also work closely with supplier groups in developing to expand the Business Architecture blueprints.
Job descriptionThe Lead Enterprise Business Architect will engage at a strategic level with the involvement in translating organisational objectives, influencing policies, optimising business architecture and leading on business change. The successfull candidate will also ensure that HMRC develops and maintains a strong Enterprise Architecture capability by empowering, supporting and developing staff to achieve the highest performance standards. In addition to the Business Architecture Blueprint, your team will also be accountable for providing help and support for Solution Designs in all of our change programmes. You will also work with other HMRC teams engaged in the delivery of Level 0-1 business architectures, so that HMRC seamlessly apply business architecture at all levels. This involves a significant level of interaction with all of our business verticals. The role involves a reasonable expectation of travel to both other HMRC sites and those of suppliers. Your team is currently spread across Telford, Shipley, Southend, Newcastle and Liverpool.

Responsibilities
Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will have demonstrable abilities in:
Business Architecture including business process modelling and business KPIs. Membership of Business Architecture Guild or CBA certification would be an advantage
Experience of understanding and translating business strategies into business capabilities, objectives and value chain models
Experience of offering business architecture support and advice to large-scale Solution Architectures and deliver both short-term and long-term aims across the full range of architecture domains.
Experience in driving and delivering business change and process optimisation against a background of organisational transformation
Ability to engage and lead architecture and business change discussions including project deployment, product selection and solution design.
Experience in developing Technical Capability within an organisation including empowering, supporting and developing staff to achieve the highest performance standards
Playing a key role in setting organisational objectives, influencing policy and leading on technical and business changeDesirable Criteria
Professional qualifications such as CBA or TOGAF
Experience of working in an agile environment and experience with agile methodologies such as TDD, Scrum and Kanban
Experience of implementing and supporting business architecture covering business architecture modelling, optimisation, reporting, dashboarding and process models/tools.
In-depth understanding of HMRC business strategies, business processes.
Very good facilitation skills and ability to influence key partners to bring them to closer to process optimisation and change methodologies
Ability to drive business architecture in projects and programmes, keeping in mind high level HMRC business architecture directions.Behaviours
