Location: Wantage

Salary: GBP10.00 - GBP12.00

Overview:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Manager on behalf of one of our clients.

Hours will be 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. Hours of work per week will vary depending on season, the demands of the customers and thus the demands on the Grounds Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership of the grounds team including overseeing the allocation of work, attendance and performance management, coaching and motivation and the provision of advice and support to the team as required.
Responsibility for customer liaison, including meeting clients and ensuring client enquiries are promptly processed and responded to, keeping clients informed of any delays or difficulties encountered.
Planning the grounds maintenance programme, a year in advance so that the schedule for the following year is always complete by November the previous year.
Management of ad-hoc work requests, ensuring targets are achieved and deadlines are met.
Carrying out site visits in response to client enquiries or orders, specifying what work is required. This will include assessing any risks and obtaining sufficient information to ensure that quotations can be raised and work can be carried out.
Competitive and successful completion of tender process for existing and potential new clients, ensuring that deadlines are met and new works are secured.
Liaison with other departments, as required, to request further site visits as necessary.
Ensuring all jobs are passed to the head of grounds then onto Support Services Administrator and logged on the computerised maintenance management system, including ordering raw materials, plant and equipment hire and allocating jobs to staff.
Responsibility for ensuring clients are kept up to date regarding the status of work already requested and confirmation of anticipated completion dates.
Responsibility for ensuring health & safety and environmental procedures are followed and updated in accordance with any new legislation.
A point of contact for grounds queries for all staff.
Management of the department's administration, ensuring accurate records are maintained and all data is stored safely and accurately.
Dealing with client complaints regarding grounds, maintaining a department client complaint log and reviewing quarterly to identify trends and improve procedures where necessary. Logging non-conformance's appropriately.
Training and induction of new staff, both within the department and for other departments regarding grounds.
Identification of staff training needs within the grounds team.
Duties Continued:

Ensuring the Company is always presented in a positive manner.
Responsibility for ensuring correct IT procedures are followed at all times including saving work on the "I" drive and following email and internet guidelines.
Be aware of and proactive in following the Company Environmental Policy, report any noted non-conformance's in respect of instructed Environmental procedures to Environmental Focal Point.
Keeping the department work area clean, tidy and well organised.
Occasional tasks at the discretion of the management and any additional ad-hoc duties as required.
Taking part in training and meetings as required and reporting to the Joint Managing Directors, keeping them informed of all developments.
Attendance at monthly Risk Management Team meetings.
Informing the HR Manager of any personal or health issues regarding the team that are causing concern and any change of personal information such as home address, telephone number etc.
Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

Clean valid current UK driving licence.
Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
DBS.
First Aider.
Chain Saw Licence.
Certificates of competence - spraying (PA1 PA6A), chainsaw, IPAF / cherry picker.
Confident and inspiring team leader.
Strong management skills.
Overall knowledge, skills and experience of managing grounds service provision.
Experience of soft landscaping.
Understanding of health & safety requirements.
Competent driver including towing trailers.
Experience in a customer-facing role including complaint management and problem resolution.
Confident pricing jobs, submitting tenders and raising quotations.
Good IT and administrative skills.
Excellent task planning ability.
Quick learner, able to interpret information.
Awareness of need for confidentiality.
Proactive, highly self-motivated and enthusiastic.
Good sense of humour.
Self-confident and resourceful.
Copes well under pressure.
Excellent social and interpersonal skills - able to relate well at all levels.
Desirable:

NVQ or other qualifications in horticulture or agriculture.
NEBOSH / IOSH.
Knowledge of environmental management systems.
