The Fire Fighters Charity is the organisation that supports the mental, physical and social needs of the members of the UK Fire and Rescue Service community. We recognise that no two people requesting our support do so for the same reason and tailor our service to achieve the best results for each of our beneficiaries.

We are currently seeking a Welfare Caseworker, with experience within a social care or social welfare setting, to support the ongoing development of existing charity-wide Welfare Services.

Based primarily in Chudleigh at Harcombe House, Devon, you will be joining our team at an exciting time for us as we develop our services to provide lifelong support and empower people to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives.

Working within a national team, as a Welfare Caseworker, you will undertake assessments of need that assist recovery and improve quality of life for members of the fire and rescue services community.
Using your previous knowledge, you will create individually tailored packages of support which responds to the needs of the beneficiaries who may be experiencing unforeseen circumstances in respect to poverty, ill-health and disability needs.
It is important that you understand and have experience of undertaking holistic and recovery focused assessments and planning person-centred support, as this role works collaboratively within a multi professional team.
This role will involve some travel which may require the occasional night away from home.
To be considered as a Welfare Caseworker, you will:
- Have experience working in adult social care, social welfare or information and advice settings
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Advice and Guidance (or equivalent)
- Have a working knowledge of the welfare benefits system and statutory provision
- Have an understanding of issues affecting individuals with a broad range of psychosocial, physical and mental health concerns
You may have previously held the title of Wellbeing Support Worker, Welfare Support Worker, Caseworker, Social Care Worker, Support Worker, Adult Social Care Worker, or Wellbeing Advisor.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a DBS check.
