Position Description:

PROCESS ENGINEER

An opportunity for a high calibre and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering team as a Process Engineer. The team is developing to support future engine developments for the complete range of vehicles. You will be responsible for developing our new, technologically advanced powertrain assembly facilities to support the JLR global powertrain initiatives.

The Power Train Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) department are responsible for the development and introduction of new and modified processes and facilities associated with new model introductions and model year changes, within Assembly & Test. You will be a key part of the Assembly team, working closely with Product Development Engineers, Facility vendors and Tooling Suppliers to ensure that component and whole engine designs meet world class quality and efficiency standards.

Planning, developing and implementation of assembly and test processes and facilities.
Provide feasibility statements for Product Development designs to suit manufacturing build requirements.
Ensure robust process quality planning including build simulations and FMEAs
Support virtual build events raising and championing issues where appropriate.
Support of physical builds at workshop, pilot build and Manufacturing Plant locations, raising and managing issues where appropriate.
Prepare, issue and evaluate supplier "Request for Quotations" Assembly process & equipment verification at suppliers and at home manufacturing facility.
Support management activities through development and monitoring of timing plans.
Support new model planning through development of process estimates against study requests.
Ensure adherence to company and departmental operating processes and policies.
Achieve Equipment Capability targets of all new & modified facilities, including OPR, MTTR, MTBF.
Support Component Programme Management Teams (CPMT)
Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time

Skills Required:

Experience in specifying, delivering and launching assembly line facilities and in-line test equipment (automated assembly cells, rundown machines, manual workstations)
Project management experience of delivering new or modified equipment into a production facility.
Engineering qualification - HNC or above. Preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.

Experience Required:

Good Understanding of process capability & ability to use Q-DAS software.
Ability to work within cross-functional teams and demonstrate flexibility to support projects from early concepts to Launch at any of the Jaguar Land Rover global sites.
Good IT skills and awareness of Process Authoring Tool (GSPAS), simulation and virtual toolsets i.e. Digital-buck, Process Designer, Process Simulate and CATIA V5, Byteworx and Sciemetric Qualityworx
Good knowledge of MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project).
Knowledge, experience and understanding of assembly processes and equipment.
Automated assembly and rundown cells, manual assembly workstations, in-process test equipment and ability to analyse and interpret performance data output from those facilities.
Previous experience of facility Installation, commissioning and product Launch.

Education Required:

Degree level in Manufacturing Systems or a similar engineering discipline. Candidates with HNC / HND and the relevant experience would be considered

Additional Information:

Foreign languages are also an advantage, German, Italian or Chinese.
