We are seeking a talented journalist to cover Renfrewshire and Inverclyde councils as part of the Local Democracy Reporting scheme.
You will join the Paisley Daily Express, working in a fast-paced daily environment and playing a key role in this BBC scheme.
We are looking for someone who will fearlessly cover the work of local government and hold decision-makers to account.
Shorthand and a formal qualification in journalism are essential for this role.

You will be a journalist based at the Paisley Daily Express, a thriving daily newspaper and winner of this year's UK Regional Newspaper award. Working with its dedicated team of digital and print journalists, you will be responsible for covering the business of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde councils and the political and social issues affecting the local community. As well as your stories appearing online and in print, they will also be accessible to the BBC and other publications and broadcasters throughout the region, bringing a huge potential audience to your work.
The ideal candidate
You will be a committed reporter with an NCTJ qualification, experience of working to deadlines, full driving license, alongside a shorthand proficiency of 100wpm.
About the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
This scheme is designed to increase coverage and scrutiny of councils across the UK.
Funded by the BBC and run by media publishers, these reporters provide in-depth coverage of our local authorities which will feature on websites, newspapers and broadcasts across their region.
