An opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Manager at our site based in Leeds.  The role requires an experienced Health and Safety professional, who can bring ideas and innovation to the organisation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating and advising on all areas of SHE compliance
  • Promote positive safety culture
  • Participate in site safety audits and support the implementation of all relative health and safety action plans arising out of routine inspections, audits and safety committee meetings
  • Site Emergency planning and resourcing
  • Ensure that all incidents and accidents are centrally reported within set timelines and produce site statistics
  • Support and develop site behavioural safety programme
  • Participate in and support employee wellbeing initiatives
  • Ensure that all foreseeable risks are managed accordingly and that all processes and procedures are compliant with all relevant legal requirements legislations and applicable standards
  • Liaise with and manage relevant regulatory authorises, including the HSE.  Deal with audits and any correspondence that require actions and confirmed closure

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in Engineering or Manufacturing related industries 
  • Experience at engaging at all levels from senior leadership team to site level operational staff
  • Experience and knowledge of relevant ISO standards
  • Knowledge of current HSE legislation
  • Chartered membership of IOSH or working towards

Desirable:

  • Degree (Preferably from an Engineering, Chemical, or Operational discipline)
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance and environmental permits would be advantageous
  • An understanding of COMAH regulations 
  • Awareness of process safety
