Within this role you will work under the direction of the class teacher, undertaking predetermined educational activities and work programmes with either individuals, groups or a class of children ensuring that specific guidelines are followed. You’ll promote independent learning to support the children’s understanding whilst reinforcing self esteem and encouraging the children to maximise their achievement and development.

Attendance of planning meetings will be required and under the overall direction of the teacher, you’ll contribute to the short, medium and long term planning of lessons. Supporting teachers in selecting and preparing teaching resources that meet the pupils needs is also required as well as monitoring, assessing and recording pupils’ work.

General duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring and authenticating absences

  • Classroom display

  • Processing exam results

  • Collating pupil reports

  • Administering examinations

  • Invigilating examinations

  • Administering teaching cover

The successful candidate will hold a relevant NVQ2 or NVQ3 or equivalent and have previous experience of working as a Teaching Assistant and/or as a Classroom Assistant. An up to date knowledge and understanding of the practices and procedures within education relating to the welfare, safety and education of children is essential combined with the ability to identify and work towards specific goals with children and colleagues and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
