Test Engineer
Oxford, UK GBP25-35k + bonus
This test engineer position would suit a proactive technology enthusiast that enjoys problem solving, working in a small team and would thrive in a product research or development environment.
The role will involve testing and characterising electronic, semiconductor or optical components and devices to support the research and development of this company's novel display technologies.
More: Test Engineer
* Requires an analytical mind and good attention to detail.
* Previous test and / or component characterisation experience would be preferred
* Graduate qualification in electronic engineering, physics, materials science or similar
* Experience of software development or using software tools to support data analysis (Python, Matlab etc)
The company is a small research organisation that is developing innovative display technologies typically that would be used in wearable, mobile devices etc. They need a test engineer to help evaluate, test and characterise devices to form a robust database of components that can be used in their product research and future product development.
This will involve extensive component testing (electronic / semiconductor devices, optical components and materials) to understand their characteristics. Furthermore, you will need to analyse, interpret and manage the associated test data. You will also be responsible for developing test rigs, improving test processes and procedures and assessing component compliance.
Skills / Knowledge Required: Test Engineer
* Ideally a degree or higher in a relevant subject (e.g. electronic engineering, physics, material science, optoelectronics, photonics, etc)
* A theme of component or product testing, evaluation, characterisation or experimentation within the studies or within an industry based or academic position (e.g. test engineer, research associate)
* Able to devise test plans and develop test rigs where required (e.g. use of Labview or using 3D printing to develop rigs and components)
* Experience of data analysis and interpretation (use of Matlab or similar)
* Good written and verbal English (able to product technical reports and concise documentation)
* Good problem-solving skills, proactive and keen on self-learning
Others (beneficial):
* Experience of test, evaluation and characterisation of optical or photonic devices
* Background in physics (experimentation, building of test rigs, optics)
* Strong data analysis and signal processing skills
* Flexibility to travel on occasions (perhaps twice a year)
