Role Overview

We are currently looking for an R&D Manager to join a leading in vitro Diagnostics organisation based in the Stirlingshire area. As the R&D Manager, you will be responsible for leading the project team to develop and deliver diagnostic assays, predominantly Immunoassays, from conception to delivery. You will be joining a proactive team and assist in the development of innovative diagnostics within a reputable organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties and responsibilities as the R&D Manager will be varied but your main duties will involve:

  1. Leading the development of individual immunoassay from conception to delivery and be responsible for the tech transfer to production and launch.
  2. You will lead and manage a team of 10 - 15 scientists, ensuring their personal development plans are clearly defined to help them reach their full potential.
  3. As the R&D Manager, you will ensure the developed assays are capable of meeting required performance, stability and cost requirements.
  4. You will run daily cross-functional project meetings to communicate essential coms within the company.
  5. Ensuring key suppliers are managed and you will also create and manage all projects and communicate updates across the organisation.

Skills and Education

We are looking to identify the following education and experience in your CV:

  1. MSc or BSc in a relevant scientific discipline and experience working as a Technical and Team Leader within the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Medical Device industry.
  2. Previous industry experience managing a team and driving them to success as well as project management from conception to delivery within in vitro diagnostics is essential to your application.
  3. Further experience in launching (or knowledge of requirements to launch) in vitro diagnostics products is essential.
  4. Technical problem solving, root cause analysis and factor affecting immunoassay performance experience.
  5. Previous experience using fluorescent technology and particle-based immunoassays would be highly beneficial to your application.
