Our client is one Europe's largest conservation charities. Lochwinnoch is a unique setting with a combination of wetland and woodland habitats, yet within a short commute from central Glasgow. The site provides children from all walks of life with the opportunity to engage with nature, often for the first time, with hands on, exciting learning activities. This is an opportunity to make a real difference enriching the lives of youngsters and inspiring them to care and learn more about the natural world. The reserves are wonderful places for people and nature, providing a unique opportunity to lead curriculum-linked educational activities in a rich variety of habitats.

You will inspire school children visiting us at Lochwinnoch, by co-ordinating and delivering programmes for connecting school children and young people to nature through a Curriculum for Excellence-linked education programmes on the reserve. The role will involve recruiting and managing volunteers to assist in this delivery. The role will also require the post holder to do the necessary promotional work to encourage schools to visit, in order to ensure targets for school visits are met.

This post is a 0.4 FTE, 15 hours per week but will be annualised and will require a considerable amount of flexible working. The busiest period for school bookings at the reserve is the school term, from Easter to the summer break. It is essential that the post holder will be able to work up to 4 days per week from 1 April - 30 June each year depending on school bookings then 1 or 2 days per week over the rest of year. The post may require occasional working outside of school times. The core days for this post are Tuesday - Thursday, with some work outside of these days during busy times.
