Insight Manager (0160)
Location: Oxford
Salary: GBP30,985 - GBP35,000
Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.
Are you looking to be part of a first-class research and analytics team that provide Oxfam GB with a deep and holistic understanding of its audiences and markets?
Are you driven by providing actionable, relevant insights to drive strategy?
Can you design and deliver research and insight projects to answer complex business questions?
If the answer is yes, then would like to hear from you!
The Role
To provide the specialist research, insight, and analytical expertise that delivers holistic and actionable audience and market insights, and puts them at the heart of the strategic planning process for public engagement. This includes generating and embedding insights in a way that creates an integrated and unified understanding of Oxfam GB's audiences, and enables evidence-based decision-making across the public engagement function.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an exceptional insight and market research professional who is passionate about putting audience and market understanding at the core of business strategies. You will have considerable experience in end to end research design and management, with experience of personally conducting primary research to inform and evaluate either marketing, CRM, retail or communications strategy.
Coupled with this, you will have experience of designing research plans to answer complex business questions and the ability to generate real insight and make strategic business recommendations based on analysis of audience and business data. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to persuade and influence decision makers and have the tenacity to work through recommendations to guarantee consideration and implementation. The ability to complement this approach with supporter analytics, data visualisation and knowledge of SQL databases is highly desirable.
Your experience will have been gained in an insight/market research environment either in a client based organisation and/ or agency. Experience in a charity is not essential but an interest in global issues and Oxfam's core purpose is a must. Knowledge of the retail sector and/or advocacy and campaigning would also be highly desirable.
We offer
Following a re-imagining of the approach to Public Engagement at Oxfam GB, insight has been put at the centre of strategic decision making. The most exciting part of this role is the commitment which senior leaders in the organisation have made to the role of insight in strategic planning, and how insight and analytics will fundamentally determine our audience strategy and public engagement approach. This means you've got the opportunity to make a huge difference, right across Oxfam.
The team is multi-disciplinary with analytics, market insight and research professionals working collaboratively together. This means we offer the chance to be part of a team with a diverse range of skillsets, and a focus on professional development. We also support a range of different teams within public engagement, from audience planning, marketing and product; to media, innovation and brand, so this role also enables you to be involved in an array of different projects, with different customers across Oxfam.
Oxfam offers fair pay, a competitive benefits package and a broad range of training and development options to suit your needs and learning style, from mentors to innovative leadership development courses.
Our values and commitment to safeguarding
Oxfam is committed to preventing any type of unwanted behaviour at work including sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, lack of integrity and financial misconduct; and committed to promoting the welfare of children, young people, adults and beneficiaries with whom Oxfam GB engages. Oxfam expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment through our code of conduct. We place a high priority on ensuring that only those who share and demonstrate our values are recruited to work for us.
The post holder will undertake the appropriate level of training and is responsible for ensuring that they understand and work within the safeguarding policies of the organisation. All offers of employment will be subject to satisfactory references and appropriate screening checks, which can include criminal records and terrorism finance checks.
We are committed to ensuring diversity and gender equality within our organisation and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.
How to apply
As part of your online application, please upload your up to date CV and a covering letter explaining your suitability against the essential criteria in the job profile.
Selection Process: Should your application be successful, you will be invited to attend an assessment on 13th November 2019. The assessment will consist of a presentation and a panel interview.
Please note that this opportunity is maternity cover for an existing member of permanent staff. The contract is therefore fixed term (12 months).
