The Primary Care portfolio collects, analyses, and publishes a range of data streams concerning NHS Primary Care, including but not limited to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and collections for direct patient care. Most of these are extracted using the GP Extractions Service (GPES). Others are collected directly from providers or via payment systems.
The primary care clinical informatics advisor (Clinical Specialist) will have a background in General Practice both as a practising clinician and as a business owner e.g. GP partner, to understand the business and clinical context of GP data, harnessing that expertise to further the abilities of our Primary Care Portfolio.
As part of the role you will be responsible for:
- Feasibility assessment of proposed extracts e.g. Do GPs record such data, and with what degree of completeness and accuracy, which is typically dependent on the business need to record such data (direct patient care, medicolegal record) rather than on the potential usefulness of such data for secondary uses?
- Advising on development of extract specifications, by commenting on documents and attendance at customer requirement workshops
- Advising on interpretation of extracted data
- Reviewing/contributing to publications, and Freedom of Information requests, advising on content relating to GP and other clinical context
- Forming part of the team developing business rules and code clusters for QOF, Enhanced Services, and other extractions
About you:
- Full medical registration and revalidation in UK
- Minimum of 5 years post registration NHS experience
- Knowledge of clinical informatics initiatives and a passion for digitisation of the health and care system
- Experienced doctor with primary care experience and professional credibility
- Strategic understanding of clinical risk and clinical safety applied through risk assessment and clinical safety methodology
- An able and experienced clinical leader with excellent communication skills and experience of leading change programmes
- Experience of effective clinical governance
What we offer:
In addition to a competitive salary with planned, transparent progression you can look forward to the following benefits:
- 27 days annual leave entitlement increasing with service
- Buy and sell annual leave scheme
- Contributory Pension (with a 20% contribution from us toward the cost of your pension)
- Flexible working opportunities
- A range of NHS Discounts covering, for example, shops, restaurants, gym, mobile phones and insurance
- Season ticket loan
- Car Lease scheme
- High profile work providing professional development and ability to significantly impact on health and care services
