* Permanent, Full time position
Purpose of the Role
* To provide proactive support by working closely with the Purchasing Manager to identify and select the right process, supplier or component based on quality and cost.
* Work closely with key leads to ensure all projects are completed to the highest specification, quality and margin.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in building a supplier database to support the business
Identify and source components based on quality and price and identify areas of improvement within the supply chain.
Work with manufacturing to monitor raw material stock and utilising volume to leverage price reductions
Collect data and report supplier KPIs, manage non-conformance and always work on continual improvement across the supply chain
Manage enquires and ensure delivery in line with business requirements
Work with the Purchasing Manager on replenishing stock levels avoiding significant write offs and working with stock related supply chain to develop the stock profile and manage efficiently
Ensure parts meet in house quality standards
Manage work load in line with business and customer requirements
Communicate effectively with the Purchasing Manager and project teams
Has a sound understanding of and confident to negotiation Terms & Conditions
Has good legal awareness surrounding contractual management and ensuring all purchasing is performed ethically and in line with prevailing UK and Customer legislation
Confident to negotiation of framework agreements with suppliers
Constantly monitor commodity pricing to enable strategic purchasing
Understands price analysis and can interrogate the Suppliers price to determine value for money
Carry out duties as and when directed by the Purchasing Manager
Comply with the Management System requirements for Health and Safety ensuring others work to company and policies and procedures
Report any accidents to the Purchasing Manager
Comply with Risk Assessments, Method Statements and the Health and Safety Management System
Ensure compliance with the management systems requirement for the Environment and Quality by working to company policies and procedures
Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as required
Key Skills
* Undertake specific supply chain projects as required.
* Contribute to lower costs and higher inventory turnover objectives.
* Improve the quality and reliability of supply.
* Maintain supply contracts to improve quality and reliability of supply. Sourcing new suppliers as necessary
* Source new, or appropriate, suppliers for business requirements
* Manage supplier portfolios from new product introduction to serial production and ensuring OTD
* Procure of products/components in new products/material or projects.
* Ability to provide quality information within deadlines
* Proactive interaction with other functions
* Team-player and ability to work on own initiative
* Attention to detail
* Be able to read engineering drawings or BOM and identify critical aspects of a specification Qualifications
* CIPS Qualified or willing to work towards
* Previous buying or sales/estimating experience
* Experience in an engineering environment preferred
