Title: Development Chemist

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: GBP35,000 - GBP45,000

SRG is working with First Graphene Ltd. the world leading supplier of high-performance graphene technologies to recruit a Senior Development Chemist.

The company has a robust graphene manufacturing platform with an established 100 tonne/year production capacity based in Henderson, near Perth, Australia. Commercial applications are rapidly progressing in composites, elastomers, fire retardancy, construction and energy storage. First Graphene Ltd. is publicly listed in Australia (ASX:FGR) and the company is a Tier 1 partner at the Graphene Engineering and Innovation Centre (GEIC), University of Manchester, UK.

The company now has an opening for a skilled Senior Development Chemist to join their Product Development team in Manchester UK. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-moving, young company that is well-positioned in the rapidly growing graphene materials market. This new role will lead materials development projects in composites, elastomers and fire retardants where their expertise will direct the technical innovation required for successful product launch.

Role / Description

  • Development of new graphene enabled products.
  • Application development support with lead customers.
  • Optimisation of graphene technologies in composites, elastomers and fire retardants
  • Management of research relationships with world leading universities.

Requirements

  • BSc in Chemistry or Materials Science. (Higher qualifications would be advantageous i.e. MSc, MChem or PhD)
  • Proven industrial experience in chemicals or formulated products (elastomers, composites, plastics, coatings).
  • In-depth knowledge of cure chemistries in thermoset elastomers and resins.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills - concise communication of technical concepts and ideas.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
