SRG are working with a clinical-stage biotechnology company who specialise in gene therapy and ophthalmology. The company has built up a highly experienced and cross-disciplinary team and is developing cutting edge therapies for eye diseases with unmet medical need.

They are currently looking for a (Senior) Translational Scientist with a strong immunology background to join the Translational Research team.

If successful, you'll be using your expertise to develop, validate, transfer, and troubleshoot the immunoassays and cell-based assays. You'll work alongside research and clinical teams to develop and oversee assays internally or those placed at Contract Research Organisations (CROs) or with collaborators.

You'll ideally have experience in developing biologics within the pharmaceutical industry. Excellent communication practiced through oral, written and presentation skills is also required.

The position will be based in London and some travel to the Stevenage site may be required.

Your main responsibilities are to:

  • Develop, validate, transfer and troubleshoot immunoassays and cell-based assays
  • Provide scientific oversight to contracted immunoassays including review of validation protocols and reports
  • Represent Translational Research within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Train junior staff members
  • Evaluate new assay technologies to remain at the forefront of technology in the industry
  • When necessary, assist in the preparation of Regulatory submissions and author (under supervision)

You'll have:

  • A Ph.D. in a Biological Science (e.g., Immunology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Bioanalytical or a related field), M.Sc./B.Sc in a relevant biological science and relevant industrial experience
  • Hands on experience with a variety of cellular and biochemical immunoassays and state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques. Expertise in immunogenicity-related and/or complement-related immunoassays is an advantage.
  • Experience with bioanalytical method development, validation and troubleshooting of immunochemistry and immunoassay techniques including multiplex approaches e.g. Luminex or MSD platforms.
  • Experience with guidelines and/or working in a GLP/GCP compliant environment.
  • Experience of working with biological samples obtained from clinical trials.
  • Experience of developing biomarkers.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication and decision-making skills.
