About Supplier Management
Supplier Management works post implementation of contracts with all suppliers and internal stakeholders across the bank to deliver innovative solutions for Barclays, balancing costs against service levels and risks, enabling Barclays to achieve its ambition of becoming the bank of choice.
It is responsible for:
Owning the relationship between the supplier and the bank (working with the Category lead as required)
Leveraging group wide spend to drive best value from suppliers and delivering value across Barclays
Delivering effective performance management across all spend
Supporting internal stakeholders in navigating their way through a complex set of management rules and processes, to optimise the supplier services
Setting the framework Third-Party Supplier Risk Management and supporting the procurement and management of suppliers across Barclays in a consistent manner

Overall purpose of role
To provide effective management of International supplier relationships on behalf of Barclays, this includes:
Applying all elements of Sourcing and Supplier Management Policy
Managing all associated risk and compliance activities
Driving Post contract value
Stakeholder Management
These suppliers are based in Italy, hence the language requirements. The relationships will be managed from the UK so little travel to these countries is required.
Key Accountabilities
Responsible for performing on-going supplier management and assurance activities across a portfolio of medium complexity International suppliers to help the bank effectively manage the service performance, cost and risk in its supply chain
Responsible for ensuring the relationship is optimally managed and supplier management activities are performed in line with all relevant BU/Group policies and standards
Managing the internal and external stakeholders for your portfolio/supplier in conjunction with other key parties
Recognised internally as a Subject Matter Expert in Supplier Relationship Development and drives the greatest value out of supplier relationships
Understands internal stakeholder/customer needs and can effectively communicate requirements to the supply base successfully supporting the alignment of business processes and strategy
Accountable for the strategic alignment of Barclays and managed suppliers by establishing common goals and objectives
Manages the development of Supplier relationships for Barclay's future requirements
Plans proactively and runs effective performance meetings with the suppliers identifying areas of improvement for both Barclays and supplier
Where appropriate provide active support across the wider commercial community within the Bank to enable effective team performance
Provide sourcing teams with support and input to negotiations with suppliers and chosen service providers, where required
Support and contribute to team building and team dynamics through personally demonstrating ability to be a self-starter and contribution to team outputs
Works collaboratively with the broader Supplier Management community and leadership to build and leverage different partnership models
Troubleshoots and improves International supplier relationships and relationship development processes/initiatives/partnering models across the business
Achieves operational excellence by effectively applying knowledge of the Supplier Management strategy and its implementation by planning and managing own workload, including specifying initiatives, scheduling projects and preparing operating plans with a defined area of activity
Masters sufficiently the key elements of Supplier Management processes, policies and enabling tools/systems

Manages the collation, analysis and timely reporting of data inputs to support the development and implementation of the Supplier Management strategy
Develops with the supplier a means of assessing the supplier relationship covering all the key service attributes required for effective service delivery
Understands the International supplier's and/or the Barclays Business strategy and recognises how these will affect the successful implementation of the Barclays Supplier Management strategy
Person Specification
Experience required:
Previous experience in Supplier Management and fluency at explaining it to any audience at any moment
Strong track record of delivering post contract value from suppliers
Track record in improving Supplier Management in a services related organisation
Expert in a variety of spend areas where dependence on effective Supplier Management are strongest
Leadership experience with ability to demonstrate where to manage to outcomes without direct line accountability
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Highly proficient (spoken and written) in 1 or more of the following languages: French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German
Ability to optimise value in supplier relationships
Able to effectively apply conceptual thinking into real operational
Demonstrates clear understanding of the 'big' picture
Proven stakeholder management skills
Ability to shape and deliver supplier management strategies
Desirable/Preferred Qualifications*
