Are you an experienced Marketing Assistant looking for a step up or Marketing Executive looking for a new challenge? The Research Marketing team at Springer Nature are looking for an Associate Marketing Manager to join their team.

This role will be working on the BioMed Central brand, and is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing Marketing experience with a leader in the field of Open Research publishing.

Reporting into the Head of Marketing, the Associate Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of tactical marketing activities for the BMC Series, working to engage our authors with our innovative and fast-moving brand through targeted digital marketing campaigns.

We're looking for a planner with excellent organizational and communication skills. Having reached this far in your career already, you'll be confident in copy-writing, have a keen eye for detail and be able to deliver marketing campaigns to time. You'll know how to implement multi-tactic campaigns which run through on digital channels, and understand the various metrics used to assess their effectiveness. You're now looking to build on your analytical skills, to be responsible for a portfolio of products, to contribute to a data-driven marketing strategy, and have access to and support on various tools to help you do that.

The role is office based but may involve travel to conference exhibitions. This job will suit someone who has an interest in marketing, publishing, and/or scientific research.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, developing and implementing a wide range of effective marketing communications campaigns (online & offline) to:
    • drive online usage and readership through the promotion of content online
    • support brand marketing activities
    • to encourage end user registration for electronic products and services
    • to generate submissions
  • Analysing and providing feedback on campaign performance against key performance indicators
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to prioritise campaigns and identify key cross-promotional activities
  • Writing effective and grammatically correct copy for marketing collateral, including brochures, emails and websites, as well as written plans and reports (to a high standard)
  • Proof reading marketing copy for emails, leaflets, webpages etc.
  • Understanding the product and customer profile and devising creative campaigns which engage our audience whilst having clear objectives that align with the overall marketing strategy
  • Accurately recording and reporting on marketing spend against forecasted budget

Qualifications:

  • University degree, preferable in science or business / marketing or a similar qualification

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proof reading
  • Exceptional time management, demonstrating the ability to work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of open access and journals publishing
  • Experience of developing and implementing marketing plans and activities, both online and offline
  • Analytics and reporting and demonstrating ROI of marketing activity
  • Strong relationship-building skills and networking skills
  • Professional experience of working in an office environment

Experience:

  • Marketing experience, preferably within an academic publishing environment
  • Solid understanding of the STM market place
  • Keen eye for design
  • Excellent copywriting and written abilities
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and other web-based platforms
