Night Porter

Retford, Nottinghamshire or Newark, Nottinghamshire

£16,455 per annum + £5,484.36 night working enhancement per annum

Full Time (37 hours per week)

Our client is one of the largest locally based housing organisations in the East Midlands. Across the region they manage over 9,000 homes; house more than 15,000 tenants; provide over 1,500 bed spaces for people with support/care needs, in over 250 properties; and provide more than 500,000 hours of care and support each year.

Do you have the skills and knowledge to empower the next generation? Will you be able to support young people to be independent, successful members of their community?

Branching Out Retford delivers housing with support to young people, aged 16 to 21, in the Retford and Newark areas. They empower these people to reach their full potential, and to live successfully and independently in their local communities. The support they deliver is person centred and strength based, covering all aspects of these young people’s lives.

As a Night Porter, you will be undertaking a varied range of tasks. These will range from site management, such as operating security surveillance and conducting health and safety checks of the building, to directly responding to their young people, helping with any issues, concerns, or complaints they may have. Shifts are worked between 9:45pm – 7:00am, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They pay enhanced rates for bank holiday shifts.

You will need to be able to diffuse any difficult situations which may arise as a result of tension or disagreements between young people, and be understanding of the needs of people from diverse social, cultural and racial backgrounds. Good communication skills are key, and you will also need to be able to work alone using your own initiative.

A current colleague at Branching Out says the best thing about working there is ‘watching the young people grow in confidence and skills is the most rewarding feeling. Keeping in touch with people after they've left the service and seeing them flourish makes the job worthwhile.’

In addition to this rewarding job role, you will also receive the following colleague benefits:

c36.5 days leave a year with additional 2 days after 5 years service

Healthcare Cash Back Plan worth up to £1200 per year on your routine healthcare costs e.g. Dentist, opticians etc.
