Machinist (HBM / Mill)
Our client is looking for a Machinist (HBM / Mill) for a permanent position, located in Dyce, Aberdeen.
ROLE
To produce components as per drawings supplied while maintaining a safe working environment and quality
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Setting up and operation of Horizontal Boring Mills / Milling Centres as directed by Supervisor
- Working to Manufacturing controls checklist and operations manual
- Continually making attempts to improve productivity and work methods
- Working to COSHH regulations, risk assessments and work procedures
- Stamping and deburring components appropriately
- Being responsible for individual quality of work
- Ensuring all tooling removed is documented correctly and then returned to its appropriate location when not in use
- Ensuring equipment is maintained in good working order and faults are reported immediately to Supervisor
- Ensuring own safety and safety of others in working practices
- Ensuring lifting equipment is safely and stored appropriately when not in use
- Keeping work areas tidy and free from obstacles
- Working on various machines
- Assisting with training as required by Supervisor
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Training
- Semi-skilled in Mechanical Engineering
- Time served in Mechanical Engineering
- Abrasive wheels
- Lifting and slinging
- Manual handling
Experience
- Previous experience of setting and running CNC Horizontal Boring Mill or Milling machine centre
- Previous experience working within a Manufacturing environment
- Ability to work Horizontal or Vertical Lathes
Skills and Knowledge
- Use of industrial measuring equipment
- Knowledge of imperial measuring scale
- Health and Safety awareness
- Knowledge of Giddings and Lewis / Fanuc control systems
- Understanding of tooling geometry
- Use of contouring equipment
- Ability to program edit
Contractual Requirements
- Ability to work shift patterns
