Who we are

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 65 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We serve more than 40 million customers worldwide through our four global businesses: Global Banking and Markets, Commercial Banking, Global Private Banking, and Retail Banking and Wealth Management.

Global Liquidity and Cash Management is part of the Global Banking and Markets business.

HSBC and you

What you can expect

You will explore various parts of GLCM through four rotations. We will give you exposure to our global network where you will work with people from all over the world who are always willing to be challenged and answer your questions.

We are fully invested in you and your development, helping you to navigate the many opportunities to develop the career that's right for you. You will learn how treasury functions look to optimise capital management, manage their surplus cash, optimise interest earnings, and manage global payables, receivables and everything in between. We will give you responsibility from day one, encouraging you to drive new internal initiatives, present to colleagues and clients, and work with our colleagues across the globe.

What will you do

We enable clients to make payments, receive funds and have visibility of their cash balances across the world, ultimately supporting their growth by helping them make smarter business decisions. You will quickly become a part of the team and will build expertise in product development, business management, risk management and sales, alongside senior leaders and peers who are always willing to support you.

Whether you know where you want your career to take you or not, GLCM opens a world of opportunities with exposure to large international clients and dynamic projects. Through our global reach, you will be exposed to how business operates on a worldwide scale. We support colleagues' ambitions to adapt to new environments and apply skills to new projects through international mobility opportunities.

There will be plenty of people around to support you. You'll be assigned a line manager and buddy, who will be on hand to offer advice and guidance and provide a sounding-board for your ideas. There will be many opportunities to develop your network of contacts within GLCM and beyond. You'll also be able to take part in our sustainability initiatives. Our volunteering programme, for example, could help you to develop new skills, while contributing to the communities in which we work.

As well as your immediate team, we have Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), also known as networks. They are similar to the clubs and societies that you may have had access to at school, college or university. ERGs are voluntary employee-led groups. Our seven core global diversity-themed networks are: Ability, Balance, Embrace, Faith, Generations, Nurture and Pride. We also have common interest groups which connect employees on a variety of different topics. They are open to all employees.

We offer a market-competitive pay and benefits package according to your location.

Learning and Development

We offer a high-quality learning and development programme. You will start in London in July 2020, with our Global Graduate Induction, which will take place for all graduates joining our global businesses. The three-day interactive event will provide you with an overview of HSBC as well as an opportunity to network with your 2020 global graduate peer group and colleagues in the business.

Once you have completed the Global Graduate Discovery event, you will join the Global Banking and Markets Technical Training in August/September 2020, which will be delivered in the UK. This will provide you with an understanding of how everything in the bank fits together, along with a mix of technical and regulatory training. The Technical Training is also an ideal opportunity to start building your own global network, which will prove invaluable as your HSBC career unfolds.

We'll provide the support, tools and opportunities for you to drive your own career development. Your training will be carefully structured, with events and other opportunities to build your wider HSBC and banking knowledge. You'll have regular access to business leaders for coaching and advice, while constructive feedback will enable you to measure your performance.

Career Path

Your experience on this graduate programme will equip you to become a specialist in your favourite area such as sales or products. You will not only have the opportunity to make your mark in the role, but also to work in a way that suits you. There is the flexibility to explore your interests within your field and the potential to progress into a leadership role locally or internationally.

Who does this suit?

We are looking for dedicated, courageous and curious people who are:

Active listeners. You will work with a number of different teams on exciting initiatives, so being able to listen to those around you, then quickly absorb information and contribute to discussions will help you deliver projects

Strategic networkers. Collaborating with clients, senior management, peers and our other international teams means you need confidence communicating across different cultures and seniority levels. It's just as important as developing the ability to form trusted relationships internally and externally and to propose new solutions

Creative thinkers. You will be involved with projects from start to finish, and will sometimes contribute on an ad hoc basis, so you will need to be able to think quickly and creatively about each stage of an idea. Being motivated and prepared to plan for different outcomes is also key so you can deliver the right one, in a timely manner

Fast learners. You will work with new people on constantly evolving projects covering a range of desirable outcomes; cost savings, customer satisfaction, risk mitigation, revenue generation etc. Being able to quickly digest information, and understand your contribution to the overall outcome, will be key

Qualifications

Minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree and 120 UCAS points or for those who passed exams before 2017, 300 UCAS points (or equivalent excluding General studies)

Please be advised that you should apply for one HSBC Graduate Programme only. Candidates with multiple applications will be progressed on one application.

Please make sure that you will have the right to work in the UK at least until the end of the programme.

At HSBC we are open to different ideas and cultures, connected to our customers, communities and each other, and dependable, we do the right thing. These are the values that guide us every day. We seek to recruit people who share these values and will help us to sustain them.
