Get Into Teaching is a free service provided by the Department for Education to give information and advice to those who at looking at a career in teaching. The service provides expert advice and support to prepare a strong application to teacher training.
To help attract graduates with the potential to be exceptional teachers, a range of tax-free bursaries and prestigious scholarships are now available.

Once you've qualified, you'll benefit from a competitive starting salary of at least GBP24,373, or GBP30,480 in inner London. You'll also have opportunities for competitive pay increases and a generous pension.
During your training year, you could benefit from a tax-free bursary or apply for a scholarship awarded to the most gifted trainees in physics, maths, chemistry, computing, languages or geography in partnership with highly regarded professional subject associations.
Training and development
Postgraduate teacher training courses are available across England, led by universities or schools. The course you choose will depend on your subject, degree class and location. Whichever course you choose, your training will largely be the same. If you don't have a degree, you can gain a degree and qualified teacher status (QTS) together on an undergraduate course.
All teacher training courses will offer:
Most courses will also offer a postgraduate qualification, usually a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

To train to teach as a teacher at secondary level, you'll need a degree, and a standard equivalent GCSE grade C or four in maths and English.
