As part of a substantial investment in Estates Maintenance Services resource, Harper Adams University is looking to recruit a number of roles to join our Maintenance Services team. Mechanical Services Heating and Ventilation & BEMS Trade Staff will carry out reactive and planned estates maintenance required on the mechanical heating and ventilation systems across the University.

The appointed individuals will be credible, skilled craft persons with in-depth technical knowledge and experience in their trades. The Electrical and Mechanical Services teams will have the opportunity to work with a varied estate that has seen continuous investment in building services infrastructure, including on-site electricity generation using a CHP and extensive PVs, on-site water abstraction and treatment, an energy centre accommodating a biomass boiler, as well as a swimming pool and canine hydrotherapy pool.  With extensive workshops and a wide range of equipment the post holders will work alongside experienced trades people providing mechanical and electrical maintenance services on a campus that has seen continuous investment in both existing buildings through refurbishment and new buildings.

The role will be based at the campus set in beautiful countryside close to the Shropshire market town of Newport. The University estate has an area of 143 hectares, with approximately c30,000sqm of non-residential buildings plus approximately 800 beds in student halls (c17,700sqm). With a range of modern teaching and research facilities, some beautiful historic buildings, student services and sports facilities as well as some high-tech engineering facilities work will be varied. The campus is surrounded by the University’s 600 hectare Farm, but is only 15 minutes easy commute from Telford, 30 minutes from Shrewsbury or Stafford and 40 minutes from Stoke on Trent or Wolverhampton. The University is looking for motivated individuals who work well in a team, have pride in their work and will enjoy the challenge of providing maintenance and small works services in a rich and varied estate.
