The Team

We are recruiting for three Business Development Executives to provide support on day-to-day and strategic marketing and business development activity for the practice group teams in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Asia). This includes involvement in campaign management, client development activity, pitches, events and sponsorship.

These positions will report into the Business Development Managers responsible for our three largest practice groups: Banking and Finance; Corporate, M&A and Securities; and Litigation and Dispute Resolution. They will work in close cooperation with the local and global marketing and business development teams, including our Global Service Centre ("GSC") in Manila.

The Role

Campaign management

Assisting with the development, targeting and management of campaigns to promote our capabilities and thought leadership. These campaigns are global, focused on client needs and enable us to strengthen existing relationships and develop new client opportunities.

This includes:
  • Drafting integrated campaign plans using the full range of communication channels
  • Working alongside fee earners on the framing and development of content
  • Drafting and designing marketing content (e.g. both client and internal communications, email and web content, social media updates)
  • Ensuring on and offline marketing collateral is compliant with visual identity guidelines, working in conjunction with the central E-media and Brand and Design teams
  • Tracking ROI, and measuring and acting on client feedback in relation to campaigns


Events and sponsorship management

You will manage the planning and implementation of high-impact client events and webinars, and be responsible for leveraging firm sponsorships to benefit local practice group teams.

This includes:
  • Qualifying proposals for new events in line with our strategic objectives and our wider event programme
  • Drafting invitations and creating bespoke target lists for each event
  • Organising all logistics and running the event
  • Sourcing client entertainment options and maximizing hospitality opportunities through our ongoing sponsorships
  • Ensuring that we maximize the client engagement opportunities afforded by these sponsorships
  • Managing webinars and editing content for follow-up circulation
  • Recording ROI in our CRM system following the event and ensuring leads are followed up on

Producing innovative pitch and marketing materials

Managing the production of marketing and pitch materials.

This includes:
  • Providing input on the design and content of materials
  • Producing bespoke bids, panel pitches and other client development presentations (formal and informal). Involves drafting and editing text where necessary; coordinating international contributions to opportunities (such as CVs, team details, experience, etc), ensuring adherence to visual identity; maintaining library of sector relevant bid content in collaboration with the central Strategic Bids team
  • Preparing and coordinating the production/updating of practice experience statements and credentials materials


Client relationship management and client targeting

Working with our Business Development teams and our key client team to assist with the management and development of our most significant client relationships.

This includes:

  • Assisting with input into client development plans and internal reporting
  • Managing regular bespoke reporting to our clients and fulfilment of our relationship commitments
  • Coordinating client team calls and ensuring action points are progressed
  • Conducting research on sectors, organisations or individuals, liaising with the GSC and our library where necessary
  • Identifying opportunities for us to solicit feedback from our clients


Other responsibilities
  • Managing directory submissions
  • Working with the GSC in Manila to co-ordinate contributions and input into business development systems including InterAction (CRM), Experience Management, bids and CV databases for supporting initiatives such as events, our key client programme, bids, experience statement compilation and legal directory submission
  • Updating website and intranet content
  • Monitoring business development spend against budget and ensuring payment of invoices relating to MBD activity


Skills and Experience Required
  • Graduate calibre with demonstrable and/or professionally recognised marketing or communications qualification (such as CIM, etc)
  • Significant relevant marketing and organisational experience
  • Experience of working in a legal and/or professional services environment
  • Understands when to act and when to ask
  • Builds trust amongst fee earning team and wider stakeholder community
  • Understands the need and has the ability to manage expectations
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Confident
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibility and deputise for their line manager when required
  • Sound working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
