The Test House is a group company of TWI Ltd, one of the world’s foremost independent research and technology organisations, with expertise in solving problems in all aspects of manufacturing, fabrication and whole-life integrity management technologies.

The Test House has an opportunity for a Skilled Machinist in its engineered products and specimen manufacturing workshops. You will join a busy and profitable TWI group with a diverse business portfolio including UKAS accredited materials testing and the manufacture of specialist one-off jigs, fixtures, tooling, testing and welding machines.

This role would suit a machinist or toolmaker with skills in close tolerance manual turning, milling and grinding, along with CNC milling machine, CNC turning and wire eroding equipment.

You will work closely with other Technicians and Project Leaders carrying out complex machining operations to produce one off component parts and also the manufacture of test pieces extracted from a wide range components.

Success in your application requires:
•    A track record in machining
•    A City and Guilds, BTEC or equivalent level qualification in an engineering or related discipline 
•    Good interpersonal and organisational skills
•    The ability to contribute to a multi-disciplinary team
•    You will be self-motivated and capable of working unsupervised
•    You must be able to conduct yourself in line with TWI’s values of teamwork, innovation, taking responsibility, customer focus, adaptability and respect

Required skills:
•    Experience of practical problem solving 
•    Able to demonstrate your attention to detail when working to standards and procedures
•    Good IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office packages would be an advantage 
•    Able to work in accordance with current Health and Safety requirements and to high quality standards within tight deadlines
•    Experience in machining a wide variety of materials including plastics, titanium and super alloys to high tolerances would be an advantage
