Job title: Vehicle Builder
Job location: Derby, East Midlands
Hourly pay rate: GBP10.50/GBP13.10 PAYE/LTD - Mornings
GBP11.28/GBP14.12 PAYE/LTD - Afternoons
*We have implemented a payment scheme for this particular role that rewards loyal and talented candidates. Candidates who are able to demonstrate high quality output and good levels of commitment will be rewarded, after one year of service, with a 15% pay rise to the above rates. In addition to this, successful candidates will then receive a further 15% pay rise after a second years' service.*
Shift Pattern:Monday to Friday (No weekends, however there will be opportunity for over time in the week. Friday is a shorter shift.)
Monday - Thursday - Days: 7.30am - 4pm & Friday 7.30am - 12.30pm.
Monday - Thursday - Mornings: 6am - 2pm & Friday 6am - 12.12pm.
Monday - Thursday - Afternoons: 2pm - 10pm & Friday 12.12pm - 18.24pm.
MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK ALL THE ABOVE SHIFT PATTERNS.
Hours per week: 37 Hours per week
Duration: On-going contract

Client Summary:
Our client is a global leader in Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing, service and maintenance and is the number one provider of rail solutions in the world. This prestigious company is also the largest rolling stock manufacturer and provider in the UK and employs over 70,000 employees in 60 countries worldwide.
Position Summary :
This position requires candidates to build new state of the art, aluminium body side, electrical multiple units. There are an initial 66 trains that have 9 carriages each, to be built to first enter service in May 2017, to run on London's Crossrail line. Suitable candidates will be put through a 1 week training package where they will become competent and ready to begin work. Over a period of 4 days you will learn the fundamentals of how to:
*Torque Tighten
*Earth Bond
*Electrically Verify
*Rivnut
This will be followed by a test on the Friday and will not be paid. You will have chance to develop and utilise these skills learnt, within the working environment and will eventually result in an NVQ Level 2 qualification in 'Business Improvement Techniques' once fully competent.
Once through the competency training you will be allocated in to one of the departments, which fits your skill set most appropriately, with the main bulk of the work.
Different Departments:
Vehicle Build: Attaching the body sides, working from written work instructions, torque tightening, working to a safety critical standard, earth bonding, fitting cab backs and interiors.
Vehicle Build (underframe): Fitting large components, torque tightening, witness marking, working to written work instructions and pipe fitting.
Person Profile/Experience:
*Open to taking direction, learning new skills and possess a positive 'can-do' attitude.
*Able to work from and interpret written work instruction closely.
*Able to carry out physical aspects as well as the more intricate aspects of the role.
*Flexible and committed team member that works well as part of team.
*Accurate and efficient worker.
Qualifications:
Basic engineering experience is preferred but not essential. An NVQ Level 2 and above in a related engineering field would be beneficial.
