Our Role

The SSE Enterprise Telecoms division has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to join our existing team to support us with delivering telecommunications projects to a wide range of clients across the UK, ensuring we exceed our customer's expectations.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the SSE Enterprise team to support the delivery of Telecoms projects at a time when there is significant growth within the business. We are looking for a suitably qualified Project Manager to help deliver projects; allowing you to be involved in the full project lifecycle from design and build to operation and maintenance. Therefore, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects from design, through delivery, to handover including managing the daily activities of internal and contractor resource, as well as project documentation, financial reporting, process management and escalation management to appropriate standards.

As an experienced Project Manager, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you will be liaising with customers, Project Managers and other stakeholders to provide regular updates and reviews, delivering safely and to our customers expectations.

This role will allow you to join SSE at a time where the Programme and Project Management capability is going through a rapid and positive change and will allow you as a new team member to make your mark and share your knowledge, skills and experience with a developing team. This gives you the flexibility of a start-up, with the security of a large company backing using a proven structured implementation framework.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a Project Manager with extensive experience in this role. The ideal candidate will have a pragmatic, and customer focused approach; with a background in managing data/telephony network projects, providing connectivity to customer offices and data centres.

You will have knowledge and demonstrable experience of managing the full project lifecycle and can take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of complex projects in a complex environment using best-practice methodologies, ensuring effective cost controls and resourcing to enable the delivery of projects to budget, quality and time. You will encourage innovation and can provide leadership and focus for the project teams, comprising of SSE and Third parties, potentially across multiple sites.

Due to the level of mobility required in this role a full UK driving license is essential. This role will involve some UK overnight travel and may include the opportunity to be site based if required.

We are looking for a candidate who has a good working knowledge contracts such as NEC conditions of contract and formal qualifications such as PRINCE2 and APM. We use MS project at SSE and we strictly adhere to a gated project management approach.
