Database Administrator

Our client, an innovative and well-established IT company based in North Cornwall are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role offers significant opportunities for log-term progression as well as exceptional employee benefits.

The Role: Database Administrator

The Database Administrator will take responsibility for providing data insights, supporting decision-making and data mapping for the business working within the core development and management interfaces. The successful candidate will work with technical and non-technical members of agile teams to design develop and maintain effective solutions to data migration. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

  • Ensure Development teams understand requirements including data quality, architecture, security and customer experience to ensue systems are fit for purpose
  • Solve bottlenecks in SQL
  • Report on progress
  • Escalate issues or slippage in timely manner
  • Manage time effectively and priorities work
  • Mange source code and version control using CVS
  • Participate in team planning
  • Work independently or as part of a team
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry and technological developments
  • Coach and mentor team members

Candidate Specification: Database Administrator

Essential Experience, Qualifications and Skills

  • SQL Experience with proven track record analysing and developing complex SQL queries
  • Proficiency addressing complex sorts, merges and joins
  • Excellent understanding of common database technologies
  • Previous experience preparing system design documents
  • MySQL database design and architecture experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative approach to working
  • Experience with data migration, conversion, database upgrades, physical modelling and schema designs
  • Experience managing highly available environments
  • Experience with production support and change control
  • Experience with release management processes and procedures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Our client is offering this position on a full-time, permeant basis. Employee benefits include; Pension Schemes, Healthcare plans and annual leave of 28 days increasing to 33days pro rata.
