Senior Practitioner - Fostering (West Midlands)

Regional Foster Placements is an independent fostering agency providing safe, high quality family placements to children and young people who are ‘looked after’ by local authorities. We pride ourselves on providing an environment which enables the children and young people to fulfil their potential and live positive lives.

The West Midlands team covers the whole of the West Midlands, but in particular the Kidderminster and Wolverhampton areas. We are looking for a committed and experienced Senior Practitioner who has good knowledge of fostering legislation and is keen to join an Independent Fostering Agency to become part of our dedicated and supportive team. The successful candidate will office based from our Worcester office.

 The Senior Practitioner’s duties will include:

- The recruitment and assessment of prospective foster carers; this will include presenting completed Form F assessments to our foster panel.
- The support and supervision for our approved foster carers and providing support for all members of our fostering households.
- Carrying out household reviews of our approved foster carers and presenting the reports to our fostering panel.
- Facilitating foster carer support groups and training.
- The management of children and young people’s foster placement.
- To contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the region; this will include working closely with local authorities. To maintain case files, for both the child and foster carers, ensuring that documents are appropriately signed.
- To attend meetings involving the child as required and to observe and implement as appropriate the organisation’s Child Protection Procedures.
- To ensure that the agency complies with requirements as legislated by: Care Standards Act 2000, Children Act 1989 & 2004, Fostering Service regulations 2011, National Minimum Standards for Fostering.
- To recruit, assess, supervise, review foster carers in line with statutory requirements, ensuring that the foster carers have the necessary information and training and resources to undertake their task.
- Partaking in the out of hours ‘on call’ system.
- Be willing to work flexibly; including evenings and weekend work, when required.

You will be joining a highly committed team with high ethical standards, a commitment to safeguarding children and to best childcare practice. You will receive monthly supervision, an annual appraisal, a realistic caseload (maximum of 12 fostering households) and opportunities for further professional and personal development. You will require your own car with business use insurance cover.

You must be a fully qualified Social Worker with a current HCPC registration to be considered for this role.
